Every time a holiday comes around, I start planning little activities for my daughter. Now that she is two years old, she is able to focus and enjoy each activity. My goal this year was to do egg decorating with my daughter. I also wanted to continue my tradition of creating a homemade Easter basket.
Easter Egg Decorating
Ever since I was little, egg decorating was something I looked forward to doing. Unfortunately, living in a Mexican household it isn’t something that we did. My mom would take us to egg scavenger hunts at our local park. She still made happy memories for us. Now that I have my daughter, I look forward to each holiday. I set up her table with a cute Easter placemat and crafts to decorate eggs.
When my daughter walked into the room, she gave the cutest expression followed by “so pretty!” This makes my hear my so happy. This is a motherhood moment. She was excited about all the little stickers and paint. I also want to expose her to arts and creativity. Unfortunately, I planned it around her nap time so we had to wait to do the egg decorating until the night. It turned out great since my husband was home and got to be part of the fun.
Home Made Easter Basket
I started this tradition last year and made it my resolve to continue this with all my children. There is only a few year years where this is cool for them. It’s also a great way for me to be creative. I get so excited planning for these little details. For next year, I might just go with a theme. This year I didn’t really have a theme in mind. It just turned out all about pink!
Easter Basket Goodies
Basket. I purchased a pink willow basket from Marshall’s. You can find a similar basket from target here. I liked the shape of it. It’s your standard tradition basket so next year I might do something a bit different. I’ve been seeing bags as a cute alternative to the Easter basket.
Books. I want to make these Easter baskets more than just candy. I got my daughter a book series, Pinkalicious, that was on sale. With my daughter, I can never go wrong with books. They are her favorite. I also found cute spring and science books. I just can’t resist with books! Knowledge is the best gift to children!
Coloring books. I got my daughter two coloring books with a magic marker that ate mess proof. These are essential when you have toddlers.
Target Goodies. It’s no secret that Target always has the best goody section. I found cute magnets that my daughter can put on the fridge and other filler toys. A favorite item I got this year is the Modo modern dough. My daughter likes playing with dough now so I hope she likes it.
Candy. This year I decided to add a bit of candy to her basket. I tried to prolong giving my daughter candy but it’s inevitable when they see other children eating candy.
I hope you found some inspiration in designing a fun Easter Day with your little ones.
Happy Easter! Felices Pascuas!
